Thanksgiving Giveaway

Banning,California. As early as 9:00 this morning,me and a friend were at the RedBarn
within the Morongo Reservations Area, along Freeway 10 East.

The occassion, being the designated day for distribution of nearly 20 lbs. each Turkey.
Free for every household within the Reservations needing to partake of the
traditional undertaking by the Morongo Band of Mission Indians.

This is their way of continuing to share the spirit of the original Thanksgiving.

According to them more than three centuries ago,Indians brought food to share with
the early settlers for the first Thanksgiving, which the Morongo Indians honor that
original spirit.Their flyer read;
"
They know and understand what difficult times are all about. And like us,
their struggles are far from over.Because of gaming, things are becoming better on
their reservation and they wanted to extend their own Indian traditions of sharing.

They hope the food provided here will nourish our spirit as well as our body.

they further said,at a time when there are so many divisions and misunderstandings
among cultures, they need to seek ways to bring all people together.Only by working
together can we make real progress.

Please accept our wishes and prayers for peace and goodwill this Thanksgiving.
We ask the Creator's blessing on all of us today.

From our Indian family to you."(unquote)

What a blissful Thanksgiving.

To the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, thank you for the spirit of sharing.

Laiban Dam

November 2,2009.Banning California.Just recently I learned about a call from biologists and concerned Non-Governmental Organizations in the Philippines.
Spearheaded by Haribon Foundation to go against a proposal for the construction of
Laiban Dam.A Billion dollar water project.
Supposedly to augment the potable water supply of Metro Manila residents in exchange
for a probable degradation of the ecosystem within the Southern Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges in the Luzon Island.

Undermining the call of scientists and experts in the field would eventually mean
a disastrous undertaking in transit.

Let the people speak for themselves rather than a few politicians with vested
interest do the task.

Me for one would like to extend my sympathy in advance to possible victims in this
man made calamity in the near future.Till then bye.
