Lesson to learn

September 27,2009.Banning California. As we are experiencing a post summer season in
the United States, people in the Philippines, specifically in Metropolitan Manila
area are experiencing a record breaking volume of flooding water brought about
by a recently concluded typhoon codenamed Ondoy.

Since Manila is a low lying plain, flooding is always expected. Much more when a
high tide comes by and coincided with heavy monsoon and typhoon.

Manila is highly vulnerable to flood disaster, aggravated with an uncontrolled
waterways and continued clogging of canals, rivers brought about by unwarranted
dumping of solid wastes into them.

As the city becomes populous due to progress or migration, let us always keep in our
minds that a corresponding destruction in our environment occurs. The more wastes
we dump ,the more clogging and flooding we must expect. This happens when we are
disregarding a proper way to dispose off our garbage and other related wastes.

Comes the rain, monsoon and typhoon then we reap our share of burden. For the victims
let me extend my sympathy and condolences.
