Millions of Sardines

March 8,2011.Banning,California.We woke up early this day to find a news that Millions of Sardines and Anchovies were floating at the Redondo Beach's King Harbor.

For me, as an avid fish eater, was really excited but apprehensive to hear
and keep asking myself what happened?.A wild guess easily answered
my question by simply attributing it maybe to a red tide phenomenon. But laboratory tests made by the authorities turned out the fish meat were non- toxic caused by an Oxygen deprivation due to exhaustion for swimming along big waves and strong currents.
They said it was due to storm and bad weather. It was indeed
due to bad weather but unfortunately they were not able to foresee a worst
omen of having a turbulence underneath the Pacific ocean plates along
the east Asian side, particularly in Sendai, the northeastern part of Japan.

The exodus of Sardines could be a hint of a bigger disaster predicted
by them through their inherent body sensors and avoided it by swimming
far to the northwest side of the ocean.

That eventually led their exhaustion of Oxygen and caused their death
upon reaching the shorelines of southern ,California.

Relative to the above incident,we are now aware that in less than Seventy
two hours since it happened,an 8.9 magnitude earthquake and subsequently a ten meter high Tsunami hit the northeastern part of
Japan, particularly,Sendai and its neighboring cities of Natori,Kesennuma
and Iwaki.

For the victims,I would like to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences.

Till your next visit.Thank you

Disbelief

As I was reading the news from the internet the other day,I read about an article that tells of a Billboard in New York City. This is about a Nativity
scene with a caption that says,"Christmas is a myth".
I felt so naive not to easily understand, that inspite of my lifelong
faith of
Christianity and being a catholic. That is for Forty Nine years that I have
enjoyed the blessings of being a believer,I am now prompted with a reality
that there are still a lot of people in the world that do not
believe that Jesus Christ had once existed among real people through his
birth in Bethlehem more than Two thousand years ago.

The message of Christmas ,is the most joyful manifestation of goodwill
that God ,the father had given us as an ultimate gift for the humanity
to cherish. It's a pity that we cannot share with those who still
live in disbelief.
Although we respect truly their personal choices.

As I continue to think about it,I compassionately was touched and
weakened to the reality that a lot of evangelical works are still needed
in order to help other people understand the truth. In the United States
alone ,more than Fifteen percent of the population are without religion
today. The Vatican has a lot of opportunities yet to capture the hearts
of these Gentiles.

For the meantime, let me express my utmost greeting
of "A Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year.May the year 2011 be a
prosperous and a peaceful year to each and everyone of us.

Till then,bye

Nest 3

Banning,California.A random check on our backyard yielded me a lot of surprises. From a bird's-nest with five cute little birdies in it , that
made me an instant caregiver by letting them try to eat baby food and trying to let them drink through a Syringe. For two days time they were okey. While holding them and letting them eat, eventually they all decided to fly on top of a Maple tree nearby.
A week later they were spotted flying in and out of their previous nest.
Maybe partly because I left them food at certain corners within our backyard.
Or maybe because a lot of green Lettuce,Squash flowers,Corn are starting to come out of their respective stalks,Guava trees with blooming flowers and a lot more of choices for them to enjoy.
The Cherry tree had only two fruits but they decided to take the one by eating the fruit before I was able to get it.Strawberries are a constant come on for having red fruits everyday and onwards.
Likewise, the Grapevines are starting to drop due to its fruits.
The same thing with the yellow Peach tree that each branch can no longer
afford to hold its fruits. What an adorable sight to behold.Lastly,my
favorite among them is the Persimon tree that is starting to grow
golden green fruits that are hanging on to their respective frail but productive branches.

Almost Christmas

Banning,California.December 23,2009.The weather is good at Fourteen degrees Celcius in
temperature. Not too much chill as a year before 2009.No snow but a little windy.

Most of the houses in our neighborhood have glittering decors and twinkling lights
on their porches and windows.

These are all manifestation of our joy and love for the most celebrated birthday
in the Christian world today.

The child Jesus in a manger. The prince of peace and goodwill.

Every person is entitled to be pure and kind to each and every one this season.
When gifts and greetings of goodwill are expected to be given and to be received unconditionally especially to our family members and the closest of friends,
relatives and even to strangers seeking goodwill and care.

In my home country in the Philippines,Christmas is celebrated the longest period
in the whole world. We started to display our native Lanterns even before November
each year and discard them after January 6 after the New year.

To each and every one "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."

Thanksgiving Giveaway

Banning,California. As early as 9:00 this morning,me and a friend were at the RedBarn
within the Morongo Reservations Area, along Freeway 10 East.

The occassion, being the designated day for distribution of nearly 20 lbs. each Turkey.
Free for every household within the Reservations needing to partake of the
traditional undertaking by the Morongo Band of Mission Indians.

This is their way of continuing to share the spirit of the original Thanksgiving.

According to them more than three centuries ago,Indians brought food to share with
the early settlers for the first Thanksgiving, which the Morongo Indians honor that
original spirit.Their flyer read;
"
They know and understand what difficult times are all about. And like us,
their struggles are far from over.Because of gaming, things are becoming better on
their reservation and they wanted to extend their own Indian traditions of sharing.

They hope the food provided here will nourish our spirit as well as our body.

they further said,at a time when there are so many divisions and misunderstandings
among cultures, they need to seek ways to bring all people together.Only by working
together can we make real progress.

Please accept our wishes and prayers for peace and goodwill this Thanksgiving.
We ask the Creator's blessing on all of us today.

From our Indian family to you."(unquote)

What a blissful Thanksgiving.

To the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, thank you for the spirit of sharing.

Laiban Dam

November 2,2009.Banning California.Just recently I learned about a call from biologists and concerned Non-Governmental Organizations in the Philippines.
Spearheaded by Haribon Foundation to go against a proposal for the construction of
Laiban Dam.A Billion dollar water project.
Supposedly to augment the potable water supply of Metro Manila residents in exchange
for a probable degradation of the ecosystem within the Southern Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges in the Luzon Island.

Undermining the call of scientists and experts in the field would eventually mean
a disastrous undertaking in transit.

Let the people speak for themselves rather than a few politicians with vested
interest do the task.

Me for one would like to extend my sympathy in advance to possible victims in this
man made calamity in the near future.Till then bye.

Lesson to learn

September 27,2009.Banning California. As we are experiencing a post summer season in
the United States, people in the Philippines, specifically in Metropolitan Manila
area are experiencing a record breaking volume of flooding water brought about
by a recently concluded typhoon codenamed Ondoy.

Since Manila is a low lying plain, flooding is always expected. Much more when a
high tide comes by and coincided with heavy monsoon and typhoon.

Manila is highly vulnerable to flood disaster, aggravated with an uncontrolled
waterways and continued clogging of canals, rivers brought about by unwarranted
dumping of solid wastes into them.

As the city becomes populous due to progress or migration, let us always keep in our
minds that a corresponding destruction in our environment occurs. The more wastes
we dump ,the more clogging and flooding we must expect. This happens when we are
disregarding a proper way to dispose off our garbage and other related wastes.

Comes the rain, monsoon and typhoon then we reap our share of burden. For the victims
let me extend my sympathy and condolences.
